The Art of Bathing

Origins Living has supplied over 200 Urban Steel toilet brushes to the Tom Dixon designed Mondrian Hotel.

We worked in conjunction with one of the UK’s leading architectural ironmongers, Elite Architectural to provide the Urban Steel toilet brushes to the re-development of the iconic Sea Containers House building situated between the OXO Tower and Blackfriars Bridge, London.

The Sea Containers House was built in the 1970s designed by US architect Warren Platner to be a luxury hotel. Following its completion it was used as office space – one occupant being Sea Container, which lent its name to the development.

Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio say the new hotel will embody the elegance of a transatlantic 1920 liner combined with a healthy dose of 1980’s post-modern reference.

Bathrooms are inspired by marine engineering which was why the Urban Steel toilet brush was selected. Origins Living sales director, Sofia Charalambous comments,

“We’re delighted that our products will feature in this iconic building and our Urban Steel toilet brush embodies the look and feel that the Design Research Studio want to create.”
